Preparing the evaluation

On the institution’s part

Through a self-evaluation, the institution can analyse its policy and objectives: it must identify what exists, pinpoint what should exist (missions/objectives), think about the way in which it guarantees the quality of its activities (independence/responsibility) and assess the results obtained (indicators/objectives).

This analysis is conducted as part of a quality management system with a twofold objective: greater control of the strategy of institutions (and by the institutions) and development of their independence in accordance with the 2007 law. It requires all of the documents resulting from the institution’s deliberations on its overall strategy to be produced by the same date (15 October).

On the AERES’ part

The Agency prepares its evaluation on the basis of all the principles governing it and of the implementation of the Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area.

Its evaluation preparatory tasks include:

  • appointing the chairman and members of the expert committee
  • consulting the institution director
  • the mission statement letter for experts
  • the expert committee’s preparatory meeting (objectives, roles and responsibilities)
  • organising meetings (dates and participants)
