Masters: evaluation process
Conducting the evaluation
The department for the evaluation of programmes and degrees evaluates the master’s specialities and subspecialities on the basis of an application as part of an approach per geographical site. It takes particular account of the extent to which the teaching programme is associated with research.
The process is as follows:
- submission of applications by institutions
- examination of applications
- post-evaluation and scoring meeting
- validation by the AERES of the evaluation report for the range of “master’s degrees” offered by the institution and of the evaluation reports for each speciality
- dispatch to institutions of the reports for comments
- publication of the reports, with comments attached, on the AERES website.
Implementation stages
- Setup of expert committees: appointment of leading scientific delegates, choice of chairmen and experts.
- Presentation meetings: meeting organised per site and per field (presentation of the AERES, presentation of institutions and the "masters" process, as well as useful documents for the review).
- Review: writing of "speciality" draft reports by the experts, writing of the draft report for the range of master’s degrees within the regional education authority per field by the chairman, exchanges between the leading scientific delegate, the expert committee chairman and the experts.
- Post-evaluation meeting: meeting organised per site and per field (verification and harmonisation of the draft reports).
- Proofreading, correction and validation: writing of the site draft report by the scientific delegate in charge of the "masters" process, then collective proofreading and validation of the draft reports by the department head.
