The Shanghai Education Evaluation Institute welcomes the AERES President
On 13 May 2010, Jean-François Dhainaut, AERES President, met in Shanghai with two representatives of the Shanghai Education Evaluation Institute (SEEI), the Chinese authority in charge of assessing higher education:
- Chen Xiaomin, Executive Vice President of the Shanghai Education Evaluation Institute,
- Li Yadong, Secretary General of the Shanghai Education Evaluation Association.
The meeting occurred under the presence M. Grégory Wegmann, the attaché for higher education cooperation at the French General-Consulate in Shanghai.
After representatives of the SEEI have been welcomed at the AERES in December 2009, this new meeting was aiming at improving how both institutions could learn more about each other, so that they may cooperate efficiently when assessing French-Chinese teaching programmes.
On its behalf, the Shanghai Education Evaluation Institute reviewed the Alliance Française in Shanghai, and already associated itself with its Australian counterpart in order to evaluate joint diplomas.
For instance, the joint assessment of the French-speaking section of the faculty of Medicine of Jiatong University could be considered as a pilot project, once the cooperation with this university is obtained. Recently created within this very university, the Assessment Centre would be associated to this project. Contacts with its managerial staff will be made for that matter.
The AERES and the SEEI consider signing a memorandum of understanding in fall 2010.
